Conneaut Lake Hotel
This investigation took place shortly before
Thanksgiving, and the investigation site was in Conneaut lake, Pennsylvania.
What you will read below is a copy of our perception of the investigation.
This document was sent to the hotel at the request of Laura Grammelt. She
was our point of contact for the investigation.

Subject: Conneaut Lake Hotel Investigation on October
21, 2009
Paranormal
and Supernatural Seekers conducted an Investigation of the hotel on October
21, 2009 from 7:30 pm until 12:30 am. There were seven investigators
present, and a variety of equipment was used. The equipment included: three
(3) stationary camcorders with IR lights placed on tripods, four (4) IR
cameras that were “hardwired” back into a DVR with monitor viewing, multiple
digital cameras, K-2 meters, EMF detectors, digital voice recorders and
thermometers were used throughout the investigation.
Pre-Investigation
Normally, as a group, we always make a “dry
run” through an investigation site for the
purpose of best knowing how
to attack a site. Unfortunately, at no one’s fault, we were not able to do
this, so we did everything on the “fly.” The building is quite large, and
the hallways are very long. After Laura conducted a walk-through tour for
our group, we began setting up equipment. I could not set up my “base camp”
with the DVR and monitor where I wanted because there was no electricity in
the hallways. We were able to setup on the second floor landing by running
power out of a bedroom, and this worked very well. The team leaders set up
the stationary camcorders while two members began running the wires for the
IR cameras. Overall, I would say it took about 45 minutes to get everything
situated and ready to go.
Investigation
The
teams were broken up as follows: Ed and Dani, Cindy and Amanda and Aron and
Tammy, while Steve watched the monitor at the command center. Both of the
second and third floors were hit very hard, along with the ballroom and the
individual stairwells. The ballroom part of the investigation had to wait
until a group of individuals was done setting up Christmas trees.
Periodically members would go and sit in a pre-designated warming area,
simply because it was quite cold in the hotel. However, there were always at
least two groups investigating, and the command center was continuously
monitored. One of the first things I noticed viewing the monitors was the
large amount of Orbs on the third floor. Ed noticed that overhead fans were
running in the hallways, and coupled with the age of the building, created a
plethora of Orbs when individuals would walk into the view of the IR
cameras. Once the individuals had left the camera view, the orb activity
would settle down.
The
overwhelming amount of activity that we captured was in the form of EVP’s.
However, there were also personal experiences. Amanda was touched two times
in the round room on the second floor, while Dani and Ed reported a
disembodied yell on the third floor. All groups reported “noises” of one
kind or another that were verified by the use of two-way radios each group
carried. The walls of the hotel are quite thin, so when an individual heard
a noise, they would verify the location of the other investigators in
relationship to where they heard the noise. Sometimes the noise could be
attributed to a team in a certain area, but more often than not, there were
no investigators where the noise was heard.
We also found
out during the investigation that at one point in time a Ouija’ board was
used in the hotel. As a group we do not believe in the use of Ouija’ boards,
simply because we feel that using one opens a “portal” in which a negative
entity could pass through. Unless an individual is thoroughly trained in the
use of the board, we feel that the average person would have a very hard
time determining exactly what has come through this “portal” along with
trying to close the door that has been opened Our group does not have a
psychic or demonologist on staff, so we feel it is in our best interest,
along with the client, to not use them. One of the things that quickly
became evident to me was that due to the exponentially long hallways, our IR
camcorders would have been better suited in individual rooms instead of
their locations in the respective hallways.
Conclusion
As a group, we definitely feel there is paranormal
activity taking place at the Hotel. We picked up EVP’s from multiple
entities, to include adults (male and female), along with children. We also
picked up a residual haunting of a young child laughing and running around.
Obviously, there were no children in the hotel during this time. Both of the
round rooms on the second and third floors seemed to have the most activity,
and the second floor round room may have an entity with a negative
personality. Whether or not this could be correlated to the past use of the
Ouija’ board could not be positively determined. While we would like to come
back for further investigations, we would prefer to do it when the
temperature is warmer. The problem that we would encounter in this scenario
is that the hotel may very well be occupied which could lead to a conflict
with guests. We feel it would be good for the hotel to put more history on
their web site detailing much of the information that Laura passes on to the
groups during the initial walk-through.
This
in turn, would make less of a burden on Laura, and would allow
investigations to start quicker. Laura was an outstanding host, and overall,
we were very happy with the results we obtained, and would like to come back
again.

second one being "lightened up" for viewing. They were taken on the 3rd
floor by Ed, and they seem to show a figure near a doorway.

wants to be heard through regular EVP and the Ghost radio)

You will hear a heavy sigh (not Danielle) just
before she says: “We heard you…”

No one is talking and even though Aron was having
problems with the mic for his recorder, you could still hear an EVP: “He
won’t let me”

No one is talking but a voice was picked up on the
recorder.
“Here I come”

a camera problem down the hall and you hear a voice over the radio which
sounds like a child, “Whatever happened… it happened”

Saving this one for last:
This EVP was a surprise considering Amanda and CJ kept hearing footsteps
coming from the third floor round room while doing the EVP session in
the second floor round room. This EVP is proof that there are residual
hauntings. Listen closely and you will hear a child laughing and running
above and a faint female voice saying something to the child. Then
you’ll hear CJ commenting: “Gosh what’s going on up there…”
